Copyright and Attribution
Last updated: 9 October 2026
SREMAN is a free-to-use research platform created to support systematic reviews, evidence synthesis and meta-analysis. Free access to the platform does not mean that its underlying source code is released for unrestricted copying or redistribution.
1. Copyright ownership
Subject to applicable law, third-party rights and any relevant agreements, the original SREMAN software code, original website design, original documentation and original website content are owned by their respective rights holders.
Where Vishnu Shivam is the owner of the relevant original work, the intended attribution is:
Copyright © 2026 Vishnu Shivam.
All rights reserved, subject to applicable rights and licences.
This attribution should only be used for work that the named copyright holder actually owns. Contributions by other developers, institutional agreements and third-party components may have separate ownership or licence terms.
2. Free access to SREMAN
SREMAN is intended to remain accessible through its official website free of charge. Researchers may use the hosted service for legitimate research purposes, including when affiliated with universities, hospitals, nonprofit organisations, government bodies or commercial organisations.
Free access to the hosted service does not transfer copyright ownership or grant unrestricted rights to reproduce, distribute or sell the software.
3. Private source code and software permissions
The SREMAN source code is not being published under an open-source software licence by this notice. Access to the website does not, by itself, grant permission to obtain or redistribute the private source code.
Unless authorised in writing by the relevant rights holder, or permitted by applicable law, users must not:
- Copy or publish the private source code.
- Sell, sublicense, rent or redistribute the software.
- Repackage the software or offer a copied version as a commercial product or service.
- Modify and redistribute protected SREMAN code or distribute derivative software based on that code.
- Use SREMAN branding in a misleading way that implies official approval or affiliation.
These restrictions do not override statutory exceptions, rights that cannot lawfully be restricted or permissions granted by the licences of third-party components.
4. Research conducted using SREMAN
Researchers retain the rights they hold in their own original research work, subject to applicable law, institutional policies, publication agreements and third-party rights.
Use of SREMAN does not automatically give the project ownership of a user's research findings, manuscript, original data or conclusions. Users remain responsible for ensuring that their use of third-party research materials is authorised.
Researchers may publish research outputs produced with assistance from SREMAN, including in commercial journals or professional settings, provided that they comply with applicable rights and agreements.
5. Third-party software and research resources
SREMAN may rely on third-party libraries, APIs, bibliographic databases, fonts, icons and other resources. Those materials remain subject to their respective copyright notices, licences and terms of use.
The copyright statement on this page does not claim ownership of third-party material. Applicable notices and acknowledgements should be maintained where required.
6. Academic citation and attribution
SREMAN is provided free of charge to support systematic reviews, evidence synthesis and meta-analysis. We encourage researchers to acknowledge and cite SREMAN in publications, protocols, theses, reports and other scholarly outputs whenever the platform has materially contributed to their research workflow.
Citing SREMAN helps acknowledge the development and maintenance of research software, improves its discoverability and supports the continued development of accessible research tools.
Recommended citation
Vishnu Shivam. SREMAN: Systematic Reviews, Evidence Synthesis and Meta-Analysis Manager [Internet]. Available from: https://www.sreman.com/
Please include the date accessed and the software version, where appropriate, according to the citation style required by your journal or institution.
Example in-text acknowledgement
“We used SREMAN (Vishnu Shivam; https://www.sreman.com/) to support our systematic review workflow.”
Researchers should describe the platform's actual role in their study and should not imply that SREMAN performed analyses, screening or other tasks that were not performed using the tool.
Citation is encouraged as a matter of academic attribution, rather than imposed as a condition of free access, unless a separate applicable agreement provides otherwise.
If a formal SREMAN software paper or version-specific citation becomes available, researchers are encouraged to cite that publication alongside the software itself where relevant.
7. Requests for permission
Permission requests concerning source-code access, software redistribution, integration into another product, commercial licensing or use of protected branding should be submitted to the project team.
Any permission granted should clearly specify the activities authorised, the applicable conditions and the scope of the permission.
8. Copyright concerns
If you believe material available through SREMAN infringes your copyright or other legal rights, contact the project team with a description of the material, its location and the basis of your concern. Include sufficient information for the matter to be reviewed, without unnecessarily disclosing sensitive information.
9. Related policies
For the conditions governing use of the hosted platform, please read the Terms of Use. For information about data handling, see Privacy and Data Storage.
